Q. For how long can I borrow interlibrary loan materials?

Answer

ILL staff make an effort to borrow from partners with generous loan periods and renewal policies to afford you the longest loan period possible. Loan period for ILL materials can vary widely; you’ll be informed of the due date when your item arrives.

  • Print items are typically available for 4 to 6 weeks. Renewals are granted at the discretion of the library which lent the item to us. Please contact us at lib-ill@nyu.edu if you need assistance with a renewal.
  • Audio/visual material loans are generally much shorter (usually 3 to 7 days). Audio/visual materials are generally not renewable.
  • Articles and book chapters delivered electronically are accessible for 15 days or 5 views, whichever comes first. You are encouraged to save or print your document before it disappears. Documents that expire or are deleted cannot be retrieved.

Try using E-ZBorrow if possible; the E-ZBorrow consortium guarantees a 12 week loan period for all loans.
