Question: How long can I check out a book in NYUSH?

Answer

In NYU Shanghai, books can be borrowed until the end of the semester if they are not part of Course Reserves, on hold for someone else, or from the Leisure or PPL collections.

The loan period for our Reserve collection may only be checked out for 4 hours.  Items from our leisure collection or PPL collection may be checked out for 28 days.

All library materials are subject to recall. If your books are recalled by the library, you will be notified via email that your new due date is one week from the time of recall.

For your most up to date due dates for NYUSH items, please check your NYUSH library account.

When an item is about to become due, a reminder notice will be e-mailed to you three days before your book is due. If your book is overdue, you will be sent overdue notices approximately every five days until the item goes into billing. You will be billed for the replacement cost of any books after 30 days overdue (20 days for recalled items). Bills should be paid within 30 days to avoid having your information sent to a collection agency.

Notices are sent to the email address the library has on file for you. All NYU card holders will be sent email notifications to their NYU Home accounts.

The library sends these notices as a courtesy; books are due on the date indicated whether or not you receive an overdue notice.
