Question: What is Globus and why is it used for UltraViolet?

Answer

Globus is a file transfer and sharing service, designed specifically for the needs of the academic research community. It provides a more efficient way to transfer files, particularly large files, than uploading files directly through UltraViolet’s interface. Using Globus also gives the UltraViolet service team a staging area for conducting the curation process (assessing files prior to publication in the repository). For more information on how to use Globus at NYU, please see IT's Globus page. If the materials you wish to publish in UV are already hosted on a Globus endpoint, please contact the service team at uv@nyu.edu.
