Question: What sources are there for real estate income and expense analysis?

Answer

A useful print resource, available at the Jack Brause Library at the NYU Midtown Center, is the annual Income/Expense Analysis series from IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management). This series includes:

Condominiums, Cooperatives and Planned Unit Developments (HD1394 .I532)
Conventional Apartments (HD1394 .I53, online access for active NYU community)
Federally Assisted Apartments (HD1394 .I533)
Office Buildings (HD1394 .I534)
Shopping Centers (HD1394.I535, online access for active NYU community)

For historical numbers, these publications are also available in the Brause print collection, but are no longer published: (Older publications are often kept in an offsite collection, so check ahead before visiting the library)

Experience Exchange Report (Annual) Building Owners and Managers Association (TX980 N33)
Dollars & Cents of Multifamily Housing (Annual) Urban Land Institute (HF5430.3.D65)
Dollars & Cents of Shopping Centers (Annual) Urban Land Institute (HF5430.3 U7)
