Question: Where can I find financial information on real estate markets, e.g. CMBSs, CMOs etc.?
Answer
Real estate debt securities include Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS), Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS), and Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMO). The SEC.gov website provides a SEC Fast Answers data sheet on Mortgage-Backed Securities as well as SEC guidance.
Go to the Virtual Business Library's Company & Financial Information section for links to useful resources including links to the following suggested resources:
Bloomberg: The keyboard F-4 MTGE key provides data on mortgage market instruments. Please note that Bloomberg stations are accessible onsite on the 5th floor of Bobst Library.
Value Line: Use the Search Our Site for overviews on the topics or current articles.
CMBS Database: Captures the pricing, key terms and participants for every CMBS issue in the world. Access is limited to the active NYU community and is available only at the Jack Brause Library. The library also has print copies of Commercial Mortgage Alert available at the reference desk.
