Question: I need to practice reading online journals for my PR Research class and cannot find any am I searching incorrectly?

Answer

There are a few ways to find a specific journal article using citation information.

Example: Yousef, T. (2004). Development, growth and policy reform in the Middle East and North Africa since 1950. Journal of Economic Perspectives, 18(3), 91-115.

Option 1:

  1. Enter the journal title into the catalog search box on the library homepage
  2. Click the title that matches your results.
  3. Under View Online, select a link that matches the date of your citation (In this case: 1987-latest).
  4. You'll then need to go backward!
    1. Search for the YEAR of your citation (2004), the VOLUME (18), the ISSUE (3), and the PAGE NUMBER (91).
  5. Click on the article title to see options for Full-text PDF or Full-text HTML access.

Option 2: Use the "Journal Search" tab that is linked at the top of the Advanced Search page. Enter a journal title or ISSN in the search box.

Option 3: Use the search by citation tool that is linked under the library catalog search box on the homepage of the library website.

What if full text isn't available? If a full text copy is not available either electronically or in print, you can request the article via our Interlibrary Loan System
