Question: How can I find information on REITs?

Answer

To learn more about REITs, or real estate investment trusts, check out several resources on the Business Library's Company & Financial Information page

Standard & Poors NetAdvantage: Under the Markets tab, select Real Estate from the list of available industries. Choosing the Industry Surveys option under the Research heading will generate a list of available REIT industry overviews.

ValueLine:  Use Browse Research and choose the Industry Screen drop down, REIT, which will provide a list of entities.  Click on a REIT entity name for full tear sheet information.

Mergent Online: Search for REITs by name or symbol, or visit the Industry Analysis tab for real estate industry reports.

Factiva: In addition to searching for news articles on individual REITs, find the Industry option under the Companies/Markets drop-down menu in the header menu bar. Several industry overviews are available, covering Real Estate Investment Trusts, Specialty REITs, and Diversified REITs.

For those interested in additional, publicly available resources, the SEC.gov website provides an overview on REITs in its Fast Answers Guides. You can find more information and data accessible on the Nareit (National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts) website
